Remembrance Service 2020
The Annual Service of Remembrance & Wreath Laying Ceremony -
Sunday 6th September 2020
After much consideration around the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the Trustees decided to cancel the Annual Service of Remembrance and wreath-laying planned for Sunday 6 September in London.
However, it was felt it was important to continue to mark this important day and so it was decided that a limited number of wreaths should be laid at the Memorial.
Accordingly, a small number of Trustees and Trust officers laid wreaths to remember and honour all those who have died in the course of their duties. Wreaths from our patron HRH The Princess Royal, the Firefighters Memorial Trust and a number of fire service related organisations, including the FBU, FOA, the IFE, NARF, the FFC and the FRSCA together with a tribute from Northern Ireland, AJEX and the LFBRMA were also laid on their behalf. Trustee Cyndy Harper and mother of one of those recorded on the memorial laid a wreath on behalf of all families who have lost loved ones. Roy Wilsher, Chair of the National Fire Chiefs Council laid a wreath on behalf of the UK Fire and Rescue Services and gave a salute to all those being remembered.
Plans are being made to recommence this important event in full on Sunday 5 September 2021.
