Firefighters Memorial Day

The Trust is again promoting ‘Firefighters Memorial Day’, which will take place each year on the  4th May

As with previous years, we are hoping that as many serving and retired personnel as possible, throughout the UK, can be encouraged to support Firefighters Memorial Day, by simply forming a publicly visible parade at their fire station, or other Fire and Rescue premises, rooted in their local community and to observe the minute’s silence at midday to pay tribute to, and remember, those who have died or have been injured as a result of their duties whilst serving their communities.

We are though mindful that this may present some practical difficulties at some retained/on-call fire stations and so some local consideration may be appropriate for retained/on-call firefighters arranging their parade to take place at a different time on that day.

The 4th May is also International Firefighters Day and in some countries is celebrated as St Florian’s Day, with the intention of commemorating the dedication, commitment and sacrifices of firefighters everywhere.
